Project Criterion:

As we discussed in our last meeting, there are several criterion to consider in our review of a potential project.  They are:

1. Is it a viable project from the Forest Service's point of view?  I.E., Does is have funding to process that project?

2. Is the project in relative close proximity to CdA to make it accessible for us to take field trips to the units?

3. Are there biomass utilization potentials in the project?

4. Is it a project with enough currently available information to make our focus meaningful?

5. Does the Forest Service have staff commitment available to work on this project with us?

6. Is it a neutral project regarding conflict baggage?  A "new" project for us non-FS people.

7. Are the economics of the project poised towards financial success?  Or, at least, let's talk about economics as part of our evaluation.

8. We would like a project with some WUI component because of the immediacy of that issue.

9. The project needs to have the common types of problems/issues that have embroiled us in conflict before.  In other words, we want to get substantially into it.  We don't want to avoid the issues that have caused the conflict in the past.  In fact, we think that if we put our creative energy to work, we can SOLVE THE PROBLEMS within a project.  (What a concept.)  We are grown-ups and can abide by rules of conduct and have a spicy dialogue (argument, as some say) geared to foment our best thinking.
